Because it all starts in our GUT: Being sick. Difficulty concentrating. Chronic pain. Inflammation. Fatigue. Hormone imbalance. Our mood.

The gut is a truly amazing part of our body! The health of our digestive functions has a huge impact on our overall health.

Because healing the gut is multi-faceted, we want to share ways to keep the environment in our intestinal microbiome clean and healthy!

Come join us for a late afternoon of connection, talks and demonstrations focused on ways you can incorporate gut healthy habits into your daily life.

What to expect: Sip on a gut-healthy craft mocktail and enjoy some small bites while experiencing the talks and demonstrations listed below. The event will go from 2pm-4pm and we will be available to connect and answer any questions you may have afterwards.

  • Constipation, your mood + best practices for healthy, natural bowel movements with Dr. Natalie Dereka, DPT, IHP, CLT
     

  • Balance your mind-gut connection during the holiday season. Learn how to keep your microbiome and mindset balanced to reduce stress, emotional eating, and bloating during the upcoming holiday season with Mind-Body Nutritionist, Nia Carrillo, MS 
     

  • Eat your way to glowing skin. Great skin comes from both what you put on and in your body. Simple tips to care for your skin from the inside out with holistic skincare specialist, Mandi Duong
     

  • Bitter herbs for digestion and beyond with Clinical Herbalist, Angelina Keselburg
     

  • Prebiotic Beverage Demo: Using shrubs to create prebiotic mocktail magic with Lauren Lucek
     

  • Probiotic Food Demo: Learn a super simple pickling recipe that can be used for a wide variety of vegetables to improve gut health and boost your immune system with Vegan Chef Hollie Joseph

Long time Wicked Fit OG member Leslie Kilpatrick served as her beloved mother Mimi Mitchell's guardian for over a decade through the long ravages of Alzheimer's disease. It is a brutal and lonely journey.

 

Alzheimer's San Diego provides 100% FREE services including respite care, counseling and support to San Diego families facing this heartache.

 

Team Mimi's Marchers has raised nearly $65,000 in recent years by joining together annually in a fun kid- and dog-friendly walk through Balboa Park to raise money, awareness and show some love to the dementia community.

Easy 5.5 mile loop (about 2 hours)

Lauren is so excited to get the hiking season jump started, and hopes you will join her on this local walk of our beautiful city!

Whether you call it "walking" or "urban hiking," this easy 5.5-mile loop packs in some of San Diego's best sights, including Balboa Park and the charming neighborhoods of Hillcrest, North Park, and Banker's Hill. The terrain is flat and easily accessible to bikes, strollers, and kids (with only a handful of stairs thrown in). If we want to take a break or two, we'll be passing a plethora of coffee shops, eateries, and watering holes along the way, as well as several museums and everything else Balboa Park has to offer.

Notes: 

  • Please arrive by 7:50am for an 8am departure.

  • This walk should take about 2 hours, we will return to the same spot we started at.

  • Bring comfortable walking shoes, a hat, and plenty of water.

We will meet at the Inez Grant Parker Rose Garden at 2125 Park Blvd. DIRECTIONS HERE

Park along Park Blvd. or in the Natural History Museum parking lot.
